Life's a Beach

Like many people, my favourite place to spend warm summer days is on the beach. It's the perfect place to relax and sunbathe while reading a good book and listening to music and when I get too warm I can cool off in the sea. However, when I go to the beach I find I need a lot of things: sunglasses, sun cream, books, earphones, my wetsuit, towels, dry clothes to change into after going in the sea... It can be a difficult task getting all of these things actually onto the beach! That's where a good sturdy beach bag comes in.

I scoured the Internet looking for beach bags that can handle all the stuff I need and came across quite a few. I narrowed it down to my 6 favourite beach bags or bags that can be used as beach bags and decided to share them with you. So I guess this is my beach bag wish list:

Top 5 Tunesday #12

I can't believe this is my 12th 'Top 5 Tunesday' post! The fact that I started these posts where I tell you my 5 most listened-to songs of the month almost a full year ago blows my mind! Where has the time gone?!

Anyway, here are the songs I was listening to in June...

1. Stitches - Shawn Mendes

Shawn has become so popular over the past year and I can see why - he's a great musician! I really like this song - I like the tune, the lyrics, the guitar part, the funky backing track... I've been really enjoying this song throughout the past few weeks and I really like the music video he released for it recently!

2. Falling In Love Tonight - The Tide
The Tide are a new band signed to The Vamps' record label and have been supporting them at a lot of their concerts. I saw them at the Odyssey in April and they are really really good! This is the only original song they have up on their YouTube channel and I love it. I listened to it so many times in June!

3. Trouble - Iggy Azalea and Jennifer Hudson

This is such a catchy song! I feel like it's quite different - I don't think I've heard anything like it, really. It's fun and upbeat with smart and funky lyrics. I really like it!

4. 18 - 5 Seconds of Summer

5 Seconds of Summer are another musical act that has totally blown up over the past year. They've come so far! Although this song is a bit of an oldie of theirs, I've been loving it recently. I think the message of it is so relevant and relatable, even if it isn't for them themselves anymore!

5. Bad Blood - Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar

I love this song so much! The message behind it is so bold but I love that Taylor is just so confident with it. I think it would be a good one to have on repeat if you had fallen out with someone. It's definitely a good one for belting out at the top of your voice!

I love the badass music video, too. It's a whole different look for her but she pulls it off so well. But to be fair, it's Taylor Swift - she can pull off anything!

June Round-Up

The first half of June was not enjoyable at all for me. I had my AS exams and therefore spent the majority of my waking hours studying. It was tough-going but although a few breakdowns made me believe I couldn't do it, I did. I came out the other end alive - physically, emotionally and mentally drained but alive all the same. Yay, A Levels...

It all went up from there, though. Literally 5 hours after finishing my last exam my mum and I boarded a plane to Bristol. We then got the train to Bath and attended the University of Bath open day the next day. I had a really enjoyable 24 hours! The uni seems so good and Bath is a really beautiful city.

After that was my relaxation period, which is another name for lying sprawled across the sofa watching Netflix. I'm absolutely addicted to Once Upon a Time at the minute!

The following Thursday I had an orthodontist appointment. I thought it would just be a case of him tightening in my top brace as per usual so I was all "yeah, this is grand" but he goes "all righty, we'll start working with the bottom teeth today." I was not mentally prepared for that!!! I ended up actually only getting half of my bottom brace on (yeah, it looks as weird as it sounds) because I have to get teeth extracted in order to make a bit of room. So that was my not-so-fun orthodontist experience of June.

Two days later was my mum's birthday. Unfortunately my dad had to work in the morning and afternoon so my sister, brother, mum and I went to the cinema to see Minions (at my siblings' request, of course. Not mine. Nope). It was one of those silly but sweet movies that just has a smile on your face the whole way through!

My dad had booked for us to go out for dinner that evening so we had a lovely meal out in a local restaurant. I had a really nice noodle dish with Hoi Sin chicken and Mint Aero Cheesecake for dessert. It was soo good!

The following Monday my friends surprised me for my birthday. If you read my May Round-Up, you may remember it was my 17th birthday on 27th May, right in the middle of exams. I didn't want to celebrate it then because nobody would enjoy it as much than if I waited.

My friend Grainne's mum picked me up from my house and I had no idea where we were going. As you may or may not know, I play golf so it turned out my friends had organised for the 6 of us all to have a session at the driving range. It was so much fun and hilarious to watch my other friends who hadn't played before trying to hit! Then we went out for dinner and back to my friend Jack's house for a few hours.

Around 10pm, Grainne's mum picked Grainne, Lauren and I up and we went to Grainne's house for a girly sleepover at which no sleeping actually took place! We sat up talking the whole night but it was so good because I felt liked I hadn't probably seen them in ages due to exams and just general life things getting in the way. I had such an amazing 2 days and I feel so grateful to have such amazing friends!

In terms of my blog this month, the 24th June marked my blog's first birthday! I can't believe I've been blogging for a whole year now! I feel like I've come far since my first few posts, not only in terms of my blogging activity but also as a person. I really do feel that it's helped with my confidence and it's made me a lot more willing to open up to people and share my opinions in real life too. I love the blogging community here and want to take this opportunity to thank you all. Whether this is the only post of mine that you have read or the 50th, thank you for taking time out of your day to read my little insignificant blog; thank you for leaving comments, tagging me in things and just being lovely - it really makes me smile when I read comments I get; and thank you for following me on Bloglovin', Instagram and Twitter.

I love connecting with people and it makes me so happy that blogging allows me to do this with people who have similar interests to me. I really enjoy blogging and found that while I was away from it during my exams I missed it a lot. I hope to stick around for a while yet - you can't get rid of me that easily! ;D In all seriousness, thank you so much for your support. It really does mean the world to me!
